CSKA Carnabys fell to a 3-0 defeat away at AFC Uplands, a disappointing result that served as a sharp reminder of the standards required to compete consistently in Division One this season.

The visitors knew early on what to expect from the referee, and a penalty decision that appeared harsh from the touchline gave Uplands the lead. While the concession sparked an increase in pressing intensity, CSKA’s build-up play and passing sequences fell well short of the levels shown in recent weeks.

The second half brought little improvement. Although the side got into promising areas on several occasions, they failed to seriously test the Uplands goalkeeper, making it relatively straightforward for the home defence to sit back and deal with a direct approach.

CSKA did not concede a large number of chances, but the second and third goals were avoidable. Issues with tracking runners, passing opponents on to teammates, and reacting to second balls were evident, and a greater desire to protect the goal and support the defence is essential at any level.
