Manager's Comments

Pitch conditions didn’t help either side today but we all battled our individual battles and tried to go for the win but a 0-0 score line for today seems fair enough

First half we said we need to come out the blocks early and not be second to anything and that is what we did a few crunching tackles from Thommo and Ruben set the pace. We tried to play our style of football but it just wasn’t meant to be today and had to go direct. Gildo was unlucky in the first half with a few efforts on target but what I remember I don’t think we created in the final third as much as we usually do.

Second half we all had positive vibes and we knew so far we needed to go up a gear. Again like first half we played a high line and it was frustrating the oppo but we carried on with our football but we also need to remember we need to manage this in the game as a couple of times they did get through and so wonderful 1 on 1 saves by Lethal kept us in the game with 1 chance Lethal had to make a double save. We kept pushing today but I don’t think we totally tested the keeper as all the shots were straight at him. Ryan when he came on stood his ground well against a tricky winger but I don’t this at any stage he was getting past him and todays game summed it all up with a last ditch tackle by Thommo everyone thought the man was gone past him through on goal but Thommo made it his.

I wouldn’t say today was our best game as we’ve played so much better previously BUT we take this point out the game and we improve it on the next game and get all 3 points but well done to everyone today for a battling performance on a questionable pitch!!

CSKA Man of the Match

MOTM goes to Ben Lewin with his double save and was basically playing the sweeper role throughout. He’s distribution was good today and was communicating across his back 4 all game.

Special mention to Danny Chapman today, he played the inverted LB and did really well with the ball moving forward, linking up with midfield and winger and was constantly asking more from the team as he wanted the win. Also Dave Thompson and Ruben Capp doing well in the centre of the horrid pitch, braking up play and trying to support the attackers when possible .
