Match Summary

CSKA’s winning run came to an end following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of league leaders FC Monday.

The visitors made a lively start to the game, showing some excellent patterns of good solid possession and attacking movement into the channels that created a number of good early chances. Caine Ward, Olly McDougall and Olly Arnold all getting into good areas early on and looking lively.

However it was FC Monday who got the opener on the break from a corner, with 2 long passes one of them a very well executed splitting pass in between the back line that held up just enough on the heavy pitch to put them in on a one-on-one with Tejas Shah, with the striker slotting it.

FC Monday got a second just before half-time to give them probably a more flattering 2-0 lead.

The start of the second half was the killer, it was the one period in the game where CSKA looked disjointed and when momentum was needed to swing into their favour, the hosts grabbed that crucial 3rd. The crossbar and a couple of excellent stops by Shah prevented further misery.

CSKA got back into a bit of a rhythm and got a bit more attacking. Josh McDougall looked very dangerous when he came on and attacked the space well, whilst up front Olly Arnold was pressing and harassing throughout meaning they were barely able to get any long balls played throughout the game.

All in all, a good game but a deserved win for the league leaders.

Manager's Comments

It’s a tough result to take, I felt the collective disappointment afterwards to come away from that without even a goal. I take responsibility on the system used today, but I cannot fault anyone’s determination today.

I want to mention our defence today also, battled, kicked and held up their men superbly throughout which really limited their chances. All taking opportunities to advance into attacking areas also to help with the overloads.

CSKA Man of the Match

All round brilliance from The Milkman of Human Kindness today. Literally threw everything at the game today and dominated some quite physical strikers, and still found the energy late in the game to make overlapping runs forward in the search for a goal.
Delaying, intercepting and heading was all superb throughout.
