CSKA booked their place in the County Cup Quarter Final for only the 3rd time in the club’s history following a solid 4-1 victory against Charnwood League side Midland Rangers.
The Mods got off to a flying start and thanks for goals from Brad Parker and Hiran Mistry, they were 2-0 up after only 15 minutes. CSKA frustrated their opponents throughout the first half, and a few strong challenges threatened to throw the game in a different direction.
Fortunately a Caine Ward header after a cleverly taken quick free-kick caught the home side napping and extended the lead to 3.
Midland pulled one back after Chris McCafferty fouled inside the box and the home side despatched the penalty. But there was time for another goal for Olly Arnold off the bench to end the game 4-1.
Will McNamee won his first CSKA Man of the Match award, narrowly winning the vote from fellow centre midfielder Ruben Capp, both of whom were commanding in the middle throughout.
