Venue: Rawlins Stadium
Referee: Jack Bradbury, Leics

CSKA recorded their first win of 2023 in some style thanks to a masterclass from their talismanic wunderkind, Olly Arnold, who bagged an incredible FIVE goals to ensure a 6-3 victory.

It was actually the visitors who took the lead when a skipping shot from outside the box beat ‘keeper Ash Walker.

But The Mods, who had been in complete control, stuck with the game plan and soon equalised after Brad Parker fed Olly Arnold to blast into the roof of the net from close range.

Arnold was causing all sorts of problems, and when he was tripped up inside the box, captain Dave Payne was on hand to fire home and give The Mods a deserved lead. Arnold and Parker linked up again to make it 3-1 going into half-time. And when The Mods emerged in the second half, Chris McCafferty slipped the ball through to Arnold on the shoulder of the last man whom he shrugged off and produced a classy finish from a tight angle completing his hat-trick.

A controversial handball was missed by the referee allowing 1912 a route back into the game, and just 2 minutes later it was 4-3 after a fantastic pluck out of the air and volley beat Walker.

CSKA kept their composure and when Olly Arnold headed in from McCafferty’s corner, the tie was all but over.

Arnold wasn’t done yet, and added his 5th towards the end, becoming only the second player in the club’s history to achieve this feat.

There was no shock in the Man of the Match award, Arnold was in a class of his own today. At only 17 years of age, it is frightening to think what he could achieve.
