A historic day on Sunday as CSKA veteran, Chris McCafferty, became the first player to reach 100 competitive goals for CSKA Carnabys following his first half equaliser at home to Black Dog Oadby.
To celebrate the occasion, we look back at some of the most famous McCafferty strikes over the past 14 seasons.
A late consolation goal for CSKA at Victoria Park, but McCafferty is on the scoresheet from his centre-back position in his 7th game for his new club.
Manager Luke Williamson sees McCafferty as a potential threat further up the pitch and starts him as a right-winger in an away tie at West End United. The decision proves to be a good one as McCafferty gives The Mods the lead after only 20 seconds!
CSKA race into an early 3-0 lead at Mossdale Meadows, but on this miserable autumn morning a series of error sees the visitors peg back to 3-3.
Heading into injury time, McCafferty drives down the right before cutting in and driving the ball into the bottom corner in off the post to make it 4-3.
The first player to score a hat-trick for CSKA wasn’t even enough to earn him a MotM on that occasion (he’s not still bitter about it either!!).
A goal kick by Kieran Warner is flicked on by John Hatfield and McCafferty hits a first time 40yard volley into the roof of the net. A strike that would see McCafferty win his first Goal of the Season award come May.
McCafferty runs riot on his birthday weekend scoring 2 and setting up 2 in this comprehensive 8-2 thrashing away at old adversaries Trinderbox. The second goal is a delicate lob from 30 yards that happens to be his 50th for CSKA.
Struggling in Division One, CSKA find themselves 0-2 down early on at Rawlins. 5 minutes before half-time the scores are somehow level thanks to two free-kick strikes both hitting the top corner. The latter of which would go on to win the Goal of the Season Award, whilst both strikes helped McCafferty on his way to his first ever CSKA Golden Boot.
An away tie played at Rawlins due to waterlogging in Blaby sees another wonderstrike that would result in McCafferty winning his third Goal of the Season.
Cutting inside and beating 3 players with a neat turn, McCafferty unleashes a long-range curling, dipping strike leaving the outstretched ‘keeper helpless.
Trailing Luke Williamson by 1 goal in the All-Time Goalscoring Record, McCafferty’s first half brace sees him shoot above his former manager and teammate up to 95 goals, giving CSKA a 2-0 lead.
Bittersweet for McCafferty however as his first-half long range own goal gives Trinderbox a lifeline, which they duly took and go on to win 6-5.
Trinderbox/Black Dog once again on the receiving end of a McCafferty landmark. A long throw knocked down by Danny Chapman falls loose to McCafferty inside the box who lashes home to bring the scores level at 1-1.
CSKA go on to win 4-3 in dramatic circumstances.
