Following Sunday’s 1-3 defeat at the hands of Braunstone Park on Sunday, CSKA have a new inductee into the CSKA 100 Club in the shape of Danny Chapman. Always with a cheeky smile, a signature on-field posture and will bore the a**e off you about Nottingham Forest, Chapman has been invaluable to CSKA over recent years with his eye for goal that has seen him claim the last three golden boot awards
Chapman joined CSKA in November 2015 as CSKA were in desperate need of goals following their promotion to Division One. And after two appearances for CSKA II, Chapman was called up to the first team for the game against Oadby Athletic where he would make his debut in an 0-8 defeat at Rawlins.
His next appearance was the infamous 7-0 victory over Magna Town that incredibly saw CSKA do enough to qualify for the 1/4 Final of The EW Foster Cup, again as a substitute, but this time on the winning side and scoring his first ever goal for the First Team, and remained a pivotal player for the rest of the season and ending the season with 5 goals.
Chapman has experimented with a variety of positions over the years, like every other Nottingham Forest fan, Chapman has often seen himself as a left back, and has started in that position on 5 occasions. He has also featured in the midfield position on 21 occasions, but his bread and butter has always been in the No.9, and this was justified at the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign with back-to-back hat-tricks in the opening two games of the season.
As well as his Golden Boot Awrds, Chapman was also voted Manager’s Player of the Season back in 2018/19 and was made captain for the 2019/20 campaign until COVID19 lockdown halted the season.
We look forward to many more goals from Chapman as he closes in on the All Time Goalscoring Record.
