Steve “Maggsy” Maggs arrived just after the start of the 2008/09 campaign, immediately blending into the style and culture of CSKA Carnabys. He took the captain’s armband shortly after arrival and despite being a few years older than all his team-mates, he showed them what fitness and energy can do to a player.

His stats will show he wasn’t prolific in front of goal, but don’t let that fool you. He was dangerous in attack and had one of the cleanest strikes of a ball. Scoring a number of free-kicks in his time at CSKA. 

Maggsy was as versatile as they come, playing in the back line or in the midfield, he would give you everything. He would torment and frustrate the life out of his opponent, and on no fewer that three occasions took the brunt of it on his face, as they would resort to pure thuggery.

CSKA II allowed Maggs to extend out his career and even took him to management with the dual-manager appointment of himself and Jay Karsandas in 2018, a partnership that would have undoubtedly brought success to CSKA II had it not been for Covid-19.
